Everyone wants to be rich, well at least most of them. To become rich we mostly follow the footsteps of those we consider as our inspirations. These inspirations are mostly rich people who transformed their time and experience into riches. The following list consists of the top ten richest people in the world. The list is based on the net worth of the people and it tends to change from time to time.

1.Carlos Slim

The Mexican business magnate tops the chart with a net worth of $69 billion. He is the chairman and chief executive of telecommunication companies Telmex and America Movil. He is also the chairman of Grupo Carso, a conglomerate company. Most of Slim's wealth comes from the largest Latin American mobile phone carrier America Movil.

2.Bill Gates

The well known American computer wizard with a net worth of $61 billion stands second in the list of the wealthiest. He is the co-founder and chairman of the world's largest personal computer software company, Microsoft. Bill Gates is the second youngest in the top ten list.

3.Warren Buffett

The American investor and business magnate with a net worth of $44 billion, is the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, a multinational conglomerate which has subsidiaries on insurance, clothing, utilities and flight services. Warren Buffett is known for his frugality despite his immense wealth and for his philanthropic works.

4.Bernard Arnault

Bernard Arnault is a French business magnate with a net worth of $41 billion, is the chairman and CEO of LVMH, a multinational luxury goods conglomerate which is headquartered in Paris, France. He is also the chairman of Christian Dior S.A, another French luxury goods company.

5.Amancio Ortega

Amancio Ortega Gaona is a Spanish fashion executive with a net worth of $37.5 billion, is the co-founder and chairman of Inditex, a Spanish clothing merchandiser which is also the world's largest fashion group. The company also has various subsidiaries including Zara Home, a household utensil and accessory chain and Tempe, a footwear company.

6.Larry Ellison

Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Ellison is a well known American business magnate and entrepreneur with a net worth of $36 billion. He is the co-founder and CEO of Oracle Corporation, one of the world's leading enterprise software companies. He has his own charitable foundation.

7.Eike Batista

Eike Fuhrken Batista is Brazilian business magnate with a net worth of $30 billion, made most of his fortune from mining and oil gas exploration. He is the chief executive officer of Brazilian conglomerate EBX Group. The group is comprised of six companies namely OGX, MPX, LLX, MMX, OSX and CCX which involves in oil, energy, logistics, mining, an offshore company and coal mining respectively.

8.Stefan Persson

The Swedish business magnate is the chairman and main shareholder in H&M, a fashion company. He has a net worth of $26 billion. H&M was founded by Stefan's father Erling Persson. He also has shares in Hexagon, a Swedish technology company. H&M also sells home furnishings online.

9.Li Ka-shing

Sir Ka-shing Li is a Hong Kong business magnate with an estimated wealth of $25.5 billion. He is the chairman of Cheung Kong Holdings, a multinational conglomerate, Hutchison Whampoa, an investment holding company and Li Ka Shing Foundation, a Hong Kong and Canada based charitable organization.

10.Karl Albrecht

Karl Hans Albrecht is a German entrepreneur who is the co-founder of discount supermarket chain Aldi. He has a net worth of  $25.4 billion and he is the eldest billionaire in the top ten list of wealthiest people. Aldi has totally 9221 stores in 17 countries around the world.
